More than just a barn
About The Velo Barn
When The Velo Barn first opened its doors in 2018, the vision was simple: create somewhere cyclists genuinely wanted to spend time. Not just somewhere to grab a quick coffee, but a place where every rider felt welcome. Whether you were heading out for your first ride, training for your next sportive, exploring the Kent lanes on gravel or simply stopping for a chat, The Velo Barn was built around one idea — community. From day one, we've been independently owned and proudly rooted in the cycling community of Kent and Surrey.
Built By Cyclists, For Cyclists
Perfectly positioned at the foot of the iconic Westerham Hill and surrounded by some of the best road and gravel riding in the South East, The Velo Barn has become a meeting place for thousands of cyclists every year. Alongside speciality coffee, homemade food and cakes, we offer a fully equipped professional workshop, quality bikes and accessories, and regular social rides and cycling events through our sister company, Flamme Rouge Events. It's everything we love about cycling, all under one roof.
Community since 2018A Journey Of Constant Change
The Velo Barn you see today isn't the same building that opened in 2018. Over the years we've continually invested in improving the experience for our customers, completing four major renovations and developments. Each one has helped shape what The Velo Barn has become today.
2018 — Opening the doors
The original café and workshop opened with one goal: to create Kent's friendliest destination for cyclists.
Growing with our community
As more riders discovered us, we expanded and improved the space, developing both the café and workshop to better serve our growing community.
October 2023 — Our crowdfunders
Thanks to our amazing crowdfunders, the workshop relocated into its new permanent home, leaving much more space to expand the café.
Late 2024 — The accident that changed everything
A serious road traffic collision caused extensive structural damage. The workshop stayed open by relocating within the building, while the café closed for several months for major repairs. Thanks to the loyalty of our customers, we kept moving forward.
The new chapter
Following a full roof replacement and extensive refurbishment, The Velo Barn reopened better than ever — a transformed outside seating area, a refreshed café, and a dedicated showroom for LAP's premium bikes and other cycling products.
What began as an unexpected setback became the catalyst for creating the best version of The Velo Barn yet.
Our Workshop
Staffed by experienced mechanics, we look after everything from puncture repairs and routine servicing through to complete bike builds and electronic drivetrain diagnostics. Its relocation has allowed us to create a more efficient working environment while making better use of the building for customers. Whether you're riding a commuter bike, a carbon race bike, a gravel machine or an e-bike, we treat every bike with the same level of care and attention.
Exceptional Coffee
Great rides deserve great coffee. That's why we proudly serve speciality coffee roasted just a few miles away by Corban Coffee at Chart Farm, Seal. Working with another independent local business that shares our passion for quality means we get to serve coffee we're genuinely proud of — whether it's your pre-ride espresso or your post-ride flat white.
Looking Ahead
The Velo Barn continues to evolve. We're expanding our range of premium bikes, growing our calendar of rides and events, improving our facilities and constantly looking for new ways to make every visit even better. One thing, however, hasn't changed since 2018 — we still believe cycling is better when it's shared. Whether you're visiting for a coffee, bringing your bike into the workshop, joining one of our rides or simply calling in for a chat, you'll always receive a warm welcome.
See you soon.
